Can't Overclock On A Gigabyte P35-S3G

I've bought a Gigabyte P35-S3G like 2 months ago with an Intel E5200. And ever since i've completed my rig, i just want to overclock the cpu. But i've got a problem which nearly all S3G users got. When I change the FSB values and set RAM mhz it restarts the system and restarts again and changes every value to their defaults. I've disabled the Legacy USB Detection and set the PCI Express Frequency to 100. I was using F5a Bios then updated it to F5b today. Then downgraded it to F3 and nothing's changed. I searched the other forums for this problem. Saw many folks solved their problem by just downgrading to F3 bios. But it didn't worked for me. So any suggestions?
 
That symptom is not unique to your motherboard. I've experienced and read about similar problems on most of the P35 boards. Some have found unique ways to resolve it while others just give up and replace the board or live at stock speeds. If you can give more info about your setup I will try to help.
 
well i had the same hell with a dg33 then i cam to p35 now its solved and i am running sweet
may be post ur rig config volatges and stuff and probable some one mi8 help u

they surely did to me 😀
 
I had the same problem...it just took finding the right bios for it...not necessarily the latest either.
 
Are you trying to go too far too fast?

For example, are you taking the FSB from 333 all the way to 400 in one shot without touching voltages / guessing based off other peoples' results?
 
I'm using bios F3a....its a bit older, but I found any of the newer and older ones didn't work for me...kept resetting and defaulting back. That bios allowed the settings to stick. Same board.
 
You must clear the CMOS. Gigabyte boards have this bad habit. (Mine too, but I fixed it)

Unplug the computer from the wall. Take out the battery or touch the reset jumpers for a minute at least.

Then, go into bios and load optimized settings, then boot into windows and shut down cleanly.

From then on, you should be able to OC.
