can't open the case!

How the H do I open this case?

It is second hand with no manual. There's a key lock on the top, by the fdd. Suppose I have to drill this out?

that case sucks. I dont think you need to drill out that key... there should be a little tab in the back near the powersupply that you have to lift up... the whole top come right off. (get another case)

I know the tab you're talking about. I saw the tab on a similar model (PC 750). That case was easy. This one really sucks though. The entire back ahs a bezel and there's no appearent way to take that off. I wish IBM just had the manual as a download, but they don't, or my eyes are failing. They have a service manual that covers dozens of models, and shows an exploded view of the key lock which looks like it will lock the case when locked.

I don't know why but that link takes forever. It's an IBM 6576-35H. I actually got the case open after doing a real good deja.com search. Here's what I found:

"Is the key slot pointing to the lock symbol (left to right) or to the back of the machine? If to the back, it's unlocked. The release
"latch" is on the bottom of the machine under the power LED. It looks like part of the case, so you may have overlooked it as I did at first. Press that up, then the entire case, front bezel and all, slides off to the front. It just looks like the bezel with the keyhole separates from the case."

I needed the case open so that I can replace the 500 MB hard drive with a larger one. But now I'm seeing something weird. The machine doesn't see the 8.4 GB drive in the BIOS setup, but Windows 95c does! Seems pretty strange for me. There's only room in the case for one hard drive so the plan is to use DriveImage to put the old stuff to new and then dump the old and mount the new. But if the BIOS doesn't see... There's a new BIOS I can try. And also can I download Western Digital Software to overcome BIOS limitations?
