Hi, Im having problems oc'ing my 1800+, not sure of the ID number (auihb or juihb) on my MSI KT4 Ultra mobo. I didn't unlock the proc as I thought that was unnecessary.

In the bios i can see several different multipliers, up to 16. The fsb I can set to 150, but setting to 166 causes the computer to not boot. When I effectively got the bois to read the proc as a 2000+ xp, I go into windows and use WCPUID (or whatever it is) and it tells me my proc speed is way lower than what it should be. I can't tell you the results as I'm at work right now.

Do I need to manually unlock the proc? Pin-mod or 'scrape-the-metal-stuff-off' technique?

Is my mobo crappy and that's why I can't oc?

As you can tell, I haven't oc'ed before and not tried to modify anything with soldering gun yet, so please excuse my ignorance. I never hear anyone talking about physically unlocking an AMD chip now so I'm assuming it's unnecessary. Thanks for your time.

I just bought this same chip and have the same mobo (pure version). I have mine set at 166FSB and 11x right now without even breaking a sweat. Maybe try this ID tool instead, works for me. What kind of memory do you have? Even if the processor is locked, you can still adjust FSB. Is it a TBred B or A? I understand that the Bs are factory unlocked. If it's not too much trouble, take the CPU out and look at the L1 bridges, if they don't have little laser cuts by them, then it's unlocked.
