ok both have win 98
I put ipx/spx protocal on both
got a cat 5 cross over cable ( bought another one, was not the problem)
both cards are working fine

Still cant get them to network

Any thoughts on how to get it to work?

make sure both have the same Workgroup eneterd in the Identification, and that you have the sharing stuff setup properly, and Client for MS Networking is your primary logon.

Any particular reason why you want to run IPX/SPX? I would try TCP/IP or netbeui, with TCP/IP winning my vote. Only use IPX if you have to connect to a Novell box. TCP/IP is the defacto standard, and netbeui is the easiest.

ipx is a little different story. check the setting for the protocol. I can't recall where it is since the last time I use IPX is prolly three years ago, but it must be in the network control panel.

Yes- I would definately try TCP/IP or NetBEUI, and make sure whatever protocol you are using is bound to the nic. Delete any protocols you are not using.

Make sure both are using the same frame type. The frame type is usually set to AUTO so set both to 802.2 and try again.
