I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I just don't know what. I've come to the place where the answermen hang...
Two PC's at home, both running XP Pro SP2. Both were just formatted and had the OS reinstalled. So we're starting fresh. There is no firewall software installed, and I have turned off MS's firewall. I do have an antivirus program installed on each PC, but for the time being they are disabled.
One PC is located in a home office, the other in an adjacent bedroom. They are connected to the internet via Comcast cable, using an SMC router, (wired). Both PC's have been named and the placed in the same workgroup. The problem is when I go to My Network Places --->Entire Network---> Microsoft Windows Network. The PC lags for about 15 seconds, with the little timer icon on screen. Finally, it goes to the next screen, which is the name of my network, and I'll see the three computers icon. Now, the little timer icon pops up again for what seems like 45 seconds or so. Then I'll receive an error window which reads, "The network is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."
