Can't make an HFS+ partition?

I have been trying to create an HFS+ partition on my 750gb western digital drive; however, Gparted doesn't have creating HFS+ partitions checked in the features list (anybody who uses Gparted can easily find this).

Is it possible that my drive doesn't support HFS+? Or is it just the software?

If it is just the software, is there another partitioning program I can use to create the partition?

the drive has nothing to do with the file system. It's the software. If you have the setup disk for MAC OS X, you can boot into it and use Disk Utilities to create partition; you don't have to install MAC OS X, just wait until the top menu bar shows up then click Utilities -> Disk Utilities.

I tried that; however, the only thing that shows up the the disk utility is a 128gb NTFS partition with 400gb used (?) that MAC OSX can't install to. Does anybody know what is going on? I can easily get information from disk utility if you need it.

It's easier if you don't have anything on the drive because you can just erase the whole drive and repartition/format using Mac disk Utilities.

It's not a good idea to mix NTFS and HFS+/HFS partitions together on the same drive although it can be done. I believe there's also another newer HFSS partition type, I might be wrong on the name, that's out there already. This newer partition also starts at the same location where the NTFS partition normally starts, so it's going to be more of a dangerous thing to do if you accidentally create the wrong partition by accident. Then everything could be corrupt by just making a simple mistake.
