Can't log into W2k - keyboard won't work (in OS)

I've hit a problem that's got me stumped. I'm not an expert but I've put together my share of machines so I am not a novice either. My keyboard is responsive in BIOS (and during W2K repair), but when I get to the log in screen, either in Safe Mode or normal bootup, the keyboard is dead (not even pressing caps key works!).

This all started when I wanted to install my Razer Copperhead. I uninstalled the Logitech software, shut down, plugged in the Razer and booted to a non-responsive keyboard. My computer is such that I must log on, so I cannot even get to the desktop.

Here is what I have tried so far:
different keyboards, including ps2 and usb
different mice, including ps2 and usb
Win2K repair
safe mode (couldn't log in)
clearing cmos
Reset Configuration Data in BIOS

Here are my rig specs:
DFI Ultra-D
Opteron 148
2 X Patriot XBLK 512MB
BFG 7800 GT (not overclocked)
X-FI
2 15K SCSI drives

I really don't understand the problem. Keyboard works fine until the OS loads. I've tested this by toggling the caps key as the OS loads. At a certain point, the keyboard becomes unresponsive before the log in screen appears.

Is there a way to boot to command mode prompt and reset this config so that everything will get re-discovered by the OS?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the logitech kb filter driver didn't get removed (I remember this being an issue a LONG time ago).

I was going to suggest remote desktop, but your on W2K. Try a boot disk (BartsPE) and take a look at the registry on the system. Google about filter drivers and look for anything Logitech related still in that registry.

Uninstalling the logitech software did this.

Boot the machine. From another computer on the network, connect to this machine's registry.

See if KB articles 255151 or 256233 help.

I don't doubt that uninstalling the Logitech software did this, but just for the record the keyboard is a MS Internet KB, not a Logitech. The only Logitech device was the mouse.

I'll try these suggestions. Thank you for helping.

I'm in the registry - I can also browse the disk. So, what is it that I am doing? Should I search for Logitech entries and delete them?

I finally fixed it by using remote registry and this link at Logitech:

Removal of Logitech software

Hopefully, the next poor smuck that hits this total crap when uninstalling a Logitech device will be lucky enough to find this post and save himself the 10 hours I have spent on this issue.

I uninstalled it through the control panel and this is what I still had to do - unbelievable!
