Can't log into MSN Messenger

I keep getting this message, "we were unable to sign you in to .net messenger service". I am able to sign in successfully on another machine, so I know my password is correct. I've uninstalled and re-installed it, and still not working. Anyone help?

Select "sign in as a different user". Re-enter your password and user name.

Whenever I get that error, that's what I do to fix it.

Tried it, still doesn't work. Even changed my password.

Did you first uninstall Windows Messenger?
Some firewall software (Sygate is one example) will silently block MSN Messenger, without notifying you.
So, you may need to specifically authorize MSN Msgr. for internet access within the firewall settings.

Norton is also notorious for hosing MSN Messenger. I believe they have an update for download that should fix the problems they cause.

Also be sure your system has the correct date and time.
