Can't load Vista 64 ultimate

Hi all,
Ok I?m trying to install Vista 64 on a new system. I?m getting the following error message. CDBoot couldn?t find bootmgr. NTLDR is missing.

I have tried two different Vista DVD?s and get the same message. I have the latest bios installed, and the hard drive was formatted with WD?s software.
I?m using a Sony combination DVD/CD, could this be the culprit?
Thanks in advance!

Check your boot order in your BIOS, put your DVD drive at the top. It seems to be trying to boot from your empty HDD.

Does the BIOS see your optical drives? Are they IDE drives plugged into the Jmicron controller? Do you have the SATA mode for the Jmicron controller set to IDE in the BIOS?

do you "hit any key to boot from disc" when the press any key to boot from disc message pops up ?

not every mobo is F8, but most are... but seeing he has an ASUS then the F8 is definitely there, IF HE DID enable this option in the BIOS

*cough*bad dvd iso*cough* ....

Bootmgr (Boot Manager) and NTLDR (NT Loader) are for Windows XP. Windows Vista uses BCD (Boot Configuration Data), something I have become very familiar with, as of late.

Thank you to everyone that responded!
Well it looks like I have a Hardware problem. I put the HDD into another computer with the same type of mother board and it stated to load Vista without a problem.
On the system I?m trying to build, I do have the Bios set to IDE and it does recognize the drive.
I don?t get to the ?hit any key to boot from the disk? part. The error message pops up first.
I will try using the F8 at post.
I?m going to swap out the DVD and cable tonight.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks again!
Greg
