Can't keep videos/games in full screen

OK, so my friend can't seem to run games/videos in full screen without them going back to windowed mode after a short time. It apparently isn't his screensaver, but I have no access to his computer so there isn't much more I can look at myself. Anyone aware of any bugs like this?
