I have system with ASUS A7V133 MB; Athlon 1.3GHz Thunderbird CPU, 256M SDRAM, 80GB Seagate HD, ASUS 7700 Video Card. Just replaced failing HD and was reloading program, etc. Decided to update ASUS 4 in 1 VIA drivers. At re-boot, the system freezes when it trys to detect set-up. I can get to BIOS but not to safe-launch. I think I corrupted something (the BIOS?) when I tried to update. Any suggestions how to recover from this?

the via drivers generally don't cause this issue.

Maybe a ram issue?

If its a bad flash you're kinda screwed. I'm a little fuzzy on when exactly you tried to flash, how far where you in the new HD installation and getting the Os and such setup? You might want to clear the CMOS and see if you can get it working again... might help. A bad flash would generally render the board useless, but... I dunno... I'm still fuzzy on how it happened.
