cant install xp on my toshiba satellite under any circumstances

i am having a strange problem with my new toshiba laptop

i want a dual boot with vista and xp pro. i have salid copies of both from my school. every time i load my xp disk (when i boot from it), i get a blue screen of death about one minute in. I have also tried completely reformatting my drive and tried installing xp from a blank slate but still no luck. its not the disk, i burnt a new one, and the same problems persist (the disk works fine in another computer). vista is working on this computer correctly right now however.
