I just built this system :

AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+
2gigs OCZ PC4000 DDR500 (OCZ5002048EBPE-K)
DFI LanParty UT4 SLI DR-Expert
Gigabyte Radeon X1900XTX

I got it all together .. except my problem is that when I go to install WinXP, it stops during thr preload. It gets to "Setup is starting Windows" and hangs. I trie hitting F5 and choosing "ACPI Multiprocessor", but that didn't help either.

Any ideas?

The RAID, gigabyte NIC, floppy, SATA (no sata drives for me) are all disabled.

Usually a failed Windows installation is attributed to a bad stick of RAM... try taking one of them out, and try again... still fails, pull the other piece out and put the original back in... try again... etc... :)

Like Adam said, check your ram. You should also have memtest built in to the bios. Have you rightly memtested beforte trying to install?

Are you on updated BIOS? You have enough juice going to your memory?

I also had an issue trying to install windows on a dfi board while using a benq drive but it got further along than that.

First ensure that you have the floppy-style power plug connected. It's towards the rear end of the top PCI-Express slot and would be easy to overlook.

All been done so far. Even tried using memory from my previous system (Corsair PC3200). I have tried the same memory, HDD, and dvd-rom (and disc) with another motherboard/cpu, and all have worked.
