This is a brand new system.
AMD XP2100
Biostar M7VIT
256mb Infineon PC 2100 DDR
Maxtor 40gb 7200
ATI Radeon 7500 or something.

I keep getting stuck at "setup is inspecting your computers hardware configuration".
Any idea? I tried different Cd-roms thinking it wasn't reading okay but that doesn't seem to help.

Thanks in advance.

Try a different video card. One time I couldn't get 2000 to boot but it worked with a different card. XP booted on both cards tho. It's worth a shot.

Okay, I tried different cd roms and it can now get to the part of windows setup where it says "windows is setting up" and just hangs there. Do you think my motherboard/processor is okay?

Check the computer BIOS & reset it to default & turn off antivirus if applicable.

Remove all unnecessary hardware such as network/modem & sound, then try to install.

The first thing to do with this kind of problem is check for bad ram.If you have 2 sticks take one out and try each one byitself. If you only have one stick try and borrow one or buy another and try.

Thanks for your help guys. The board I had (biostar) was very picky with memory so I just bought a new Asus board and everything installed fine🙂
