Can't install Windows 7 on brand new rig

Hi guys

Just built a new rig.
I'm having a hell of a time trying to install Windows 7 right now on my fresh HDD.
I purchased a student-priced Upgrade, downloaded the .iso on my old home computer (Windows XP 32-bit). Planning on doing the Microsoft-supported double install.

Tried burning it first via PowerISO then via the official Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool - both resulted in errors involving ntoskrnl.exe and the # given was 0xc0000098.

Then tried making a bootable USB - that got me into setup at which point the error given was "CD/DVD Drivers not found, please insert CD/DVD" or something similar - and it prompts me to either put in a CD/DVD or browse to find the drivers.

Finally I tried putting both in - the USB first, then the DVD at prompting and it got me into the Windows 7 Terms of Service Agreement - but I couldn't "scroll" down via my PS2 keyboard to either accept or click next, which is weird because the keyboard seemed to work fine before. My USB mouse that I had plugged in didn't work as well. USB Legacy Function is enabled by default via my BIOS settings. Farthest I got was this point.

I've tried using "Boot Menu" to boot straight from the USB/DVD but that didn't make any difference. Motherboard is a Gigabyte GAZ68-MX-UD2H-B3. Bios version straight out of the box is F4.

Currently I'm just redownloading the upgrade .ISO from the official Microsoft link given to me in my email from my purchase. Not really sure what to do next other than to try again?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also - everything about the rig is stock - nothing done yet except attempt to install Windows 7 on a clean Samsung F3 1TB drive. Do I need DVD drive drivers or something? Swap out DVD drives 2x between my new/old rig? Checksums/hash?

edit:/
solved using usb 2.0 ports in back of case as opposed to usb 3.0 ones along with booting as USB-HDD.
