Can't install windows 2000

hello everyone, this is the first time i type msg in this forum, my computer has some problem,
the config is: TB1G, Iwill KD266, 256 mb ram, WD 30G hd, Hercules mx display card.
When I start to install win98, everything is alright, but when I start to install win2000, I failed after booting out win98, I took D: as the partition for win2000, when the candisk check D:, it said the drive is damaged and the installation was terminated.
However, I can install win2000 with the harddisk in another system, can anyone help?
