Can't Install Windows 2000 on Aptiva

I'm trying to install Windows 2000 on an Aptiva Computer (I believe it's the E3U model - 350mhz k6-2, V7m0a motherboard). Basically I get an ntoskernl.exe error at bootup, and upon replacing the file it's just a mess of other errors or missing files. I've tried swapping cdroms, memory, etc..I can install Win2k just fine on the hard drive if it's in another computer. So I think I've narrowed it down to the motherboard, but I was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences and if there was anything at all I could do (aside from getting a new motherboard) for it to work. It's not my main computer, but I'd rather run 2k on it than 98 if at all possible.

Appreciate any info.

I remember having that error when upgrading to W2K on a Dell machine for a friend. Have you upgrade the BIOS yet? I can only get it to upgrade by running winnt32.exe within W98.
