Cant install win85

i want to install win95 because my xp pro has errors. and i dont like it that much either.

i put the cd in and go to d: but when i click setup it wont work and it says to do it in ms-dos prompt

so i restart the computer in comand prompt and it still doesnt work.

it wont work after the computer has loaded up. even while booting

is there a way to uninstall xp or install win95?

You'll need a special install/boot disk for Win98. It sets up the CDROM drivers during bootup so you can setup from CD. It's possible you could boot off from the Win98 CD also. I can't remember for sure if it support that, but worth a shot. Or else you'll have to find/make a copy of the install/boot disk.

Blueoak is right, to install Windows 95 you'll need a boot disk with cdrom support (I don't think that you can boot off the windows 95 cd directly). Goto www.bootdisk.com to get a suitable disk.

What problems are you having with XP? Going back to Win95 from XP is a huge step backwards (Win95 has very bad memory management, little to no USB support, poor stability and is no longer supported by most hardware/software manufacturers etc etc), perhaps it would be betterl to try to resolve the problems you are having with XP rather than going back to Win95.

I know what he meant but I had to come in and give him some shi* about it. 😉 Win85 must be like the lost episodes of alias 😀
Anyways, the windows 95 disc aint bootable so you need a "start up disk". You can use a windows98 or me start up disk, the version doesn't matter accept i don't think you can use a 2000 or Xp one and a 95 one won't have the cdrom drivers on it. With both the start up disk and the windows95 disc in the drive reboot the system and in the menu that shows up choose start computer with cdrom support. From there it should a cake walk.
😀
