Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me out.

I built my new system, but whenever I try to install 2000 I either get <STOP>IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR EQUAL_TO_ZERO, or when Windows is copying files it will give an error such as: error cmprops.dll is not the same file that was copied from the cd. I can either try again, which never works, skip the file, or cancel. If I skip, I will get the same error for other files.

Yes, the 2000 CD is original media and works fine on other PCs.
I installed win98 once, it seemed fine.

System Specs:

Asus AV133A rev 105 (new)
Duron 700 (not o/c'd) (new)
Crucial 256MB CAS2 (new)
Matrox G200
Western Digital 15 GB
350W power supply that has 1A on standby 5V (I checked).

Ive tried different ram, 2 different harddrives, different CD Roms.
Ive set the ram to 3,3,3.
Ive flashed the bios to 1004.02d. Load setup defaults numerous times. Ive disabled the Promise controller and tried installing off the IDE. Ive disabled the IDE and tried installing off of the promise controller.

Ive disabled cache in the bios, not change. Ive disabled everything I didnt need, serial, etc, no change.

I am so frustrated, its been 5 days fighting this.

Couple of suggestions, You should download the checkupgrade utilility at microsoft. The utility checks your hardware and sees if its compatible. You can download it at http://www.microsoft.com/WINDOWS2000/upgrade/compat/.

Another way to go is to copy all of the files from \i386 directory from the windows 2k disk, using DOS xcopy with the verify option and /s onto your a separate DOS partition on the new hard drive and run winnt.exe setup program after you run the compatibility utility.

Good luck

Ill try the check upgrade.

I did xcopy the i386 folder. I did copy it to the harddrive while in another PC.
