Can't install Win2K..error message say's....

Can't copy 0401.csv, thenif I skip it then it says it can't copy the *.csv. so on and so on.
What's up with that.
I have a Dual boot.. WIN98SE and WIN2K.
I was installing some new software for win2k and wanted to start off with a clean install.
After I format drive "D" (that is were I had WIN2K installed before) I now can not install WIN2K.

Could some shed some light on this for me. I'm going crazy.

During the install, delete the "D" partition and re-create it with Win2k. Then let Win2k format the partition.

Thanks for the Idea.
It didn't work out.
It seems every time I get different files it can't copy.
The cd seems to have some faint scuff marks, but they don't look that bad.
Is thier a way to get a new copy from Microsoft?
 
I had that same problem for a while also. Just keep trying and also choose to "copy all the cd/setup files to the hard drive" first

Why? I mean I have installed WIN2K on this computer three times before without a problem.
So I don't understand why, now?

Huh... strange problem. Once again, try what hanybanoub said.

Anyways, if you have to Microsoft will send you a new CD. I seriously botched one of my FS2000 CD's and they sent me a replacement set 9 days after I sent them an E-mail.

maybe you are developing a bad motherboard controller? or your CDROM is going bad as well?
do a full scandisk in DOS...
 
Upadate!!
I fdisk my HD and repartition, format and reinstalled WIN98SE.
Then in Windows I inserted the WIN2K cd and started the instalation.
Now after it installed WIN2K, during reboot the os only gets as far as the "Please Wait" and then it just hangs or reboots again and again.
And then if I try to use the WIN2K cd to reinstall the os, I get that error message "Can't copy x.xxx file"
I didn't have this problem before.
Maybe I'll just remove WIN98SE all together and just install WIN2K and see if that works.
I will also get a WIN2K cd from work and try that.
 
I've had these sorts of problems before and they are usually because the cdrom is having problems reading the cd. If the cd is a burned "back-up" copy, this can be a big problem. Try:
1)cleaning the cd thoroughly.
2)reburn the cd with a high quality media
3)try using an original cd
4)use a different cd rom.

Other ideas - make sure no autoexec.bat or config.sys in WIN98. 16 bit CDROM drivers will mess it up for 32 bit WIN2000.

Make sure your WIN98 doesn't have Logitech mouse drivers older than six months installed.

Definitely try coping the CDROM to HD first.

It seems it all had to do with memory.
I have two sticks of PC133 256meg, one stick made by IBM and one by Simple Technolgy.
Well it turns out to be the Simple Technolgy that is bad.

Summary:
I had a dual boot WIN98SE/WIN2K.
Haven't used WIN2K in a while (waiting for my upgrade to Premiere 6.0)
When Premiere came I went to install it. had problems so I reformat drive "D" (which is were WIN2K was installed). I tried to reinstall WIN2K but was getting "can't copy x.xxx file" messages.
So I wiped out my whole drive, fdisk, repartition and reformat, Install just WIN98se. That worked but still can't install WIN2K. So fdisk again and tried to install just WIN2K.
When WIN2K would restart the computer it would just keep rebooting or hang.
I was ready to install a new mainboard, but before I did I took out one of the 256meg stick. Try to install WIN2K, while the install program was copying files it would stop at the same point everytime (17%).
That's when I figured it was the memory, took out that stick (Simple Technolgy) and installed the IBM stick.
YES! YES! YES!
WIN2k installed and I am running good now. No more dual boot.

BTW: I took that Simple Technolgy and swapped it in my new Dell OptiPlex GX110 at work(256meg for 256meg) and when it was booting a error message came up- "Memory has decressed". The computer was reporting that I only had 169meg of ram.
 
Win2k is a lot more picky when it comes to a unstable system. It is a OS that is built on stability and how good would it be if it loaded with just any unstable system?
