I can view them and click on them and bring them ready for install. BUt when I install it says cant install apps or updates,, doesn't work.

So I took permission level which is OFF! ,,,,,, no need for that junk,, I turn it on all way took slider bar on top.. and same things but now I get some weird error message.. so I turn that off,,,,,,,, hmmmmm

I came from Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and glad I did. My Sonar X2 opens in 3 seconds, when it used to take 5 with Windows 7. I boot into desktop fast,,,,, restart takes 6 seconds,, but shutdown takes 0.5 seconds....

OH BTW the metro apps that came with OS I can use those just fine. I have a Hotmail acc... thanks for help...

How exactly did you turn UAC off? Modern apps rely on UAC permission structure, run at the lowest possible system permissions and, as I recall, do not run with UAC off.

Thank you soo much for your response rhonda the sly...... nice rig amazing ovltage soo low.... 1.18 for 3400Mhz wow.

Anyhow first thing I did when windows was installing it was done then gave me metro screen type thing with options,,,, I turned off UAC from there. I have tried turning it back on all way up but it doesnt work.

Oh and I upgraded from Win7 which had my UAC off .......

this is horrible I cant download and see new apps. only the ones that came with OS

Microsoft you nitwits talk about a bug,,,, ALSO I cant setup homegroup ,,,,,, wtf,,,

I doubt anyone wants to diagnose your issues because of how much you f' with your system and the fact that Win8 is brand new so troubleshooting Metro isn't something we're used to doing yet.

Disabling UAC is a sign that you've already "tweaked" it too much and should probably start over.

Ya, and also my metro pc settings screen looks messed up way messedd up you cant read anything its all corrupt 🙁

Hang on, how is disabling UAC such a bad thing, and a sign he's tweaked his OS a lot? Disabling UAC is one of the first thing I always do on my Windows installations. I've never had any issues with it disabled as well 😕

I disable it almost first thing. No issues here

I had the same issue with the metro apps and store app on my computer. As soon as they open they would close. I fixed this issue by using the Windows 8 reset your pc feature.

Because disabling UAC doesn't buy you much, if anything, and I've seen numerous instances where it breaks things. And frankly, I've been running with UAC on the default levels in Win7 and Win8 since their releases and if you're seeing UAC prompts enough that it bothers you, you're either doing something very wrong or are using very poorly designed software. But the primary factor is the OP, just look at his posting history and that should explain everything.
