Can't install Sound Blaster drivers

Continued from here, I couldn't get my Ensoniq AudioPCI 1370 to record sound, and couldn't get any drivers to install, so now I'm trying other sound cards (both Sound Blasters), but can't get drivers to install for them either. One is a Live 5.1 Platinum, the other is an Audigy 2 ZS, and I've separately downloaded what are as far as I know the correct XP drivers for each, but neither will install for their respective cards, saying that there's no Sound Blaster found. What is causing these problems? This is on an old 440BX mobo - an Abit BH6.

The Creative Sound Blaster 64 PCI (Ensoniq AudioPCI 1370) doesn't have any official creative drivers for Windows XP, support was dropped for them long ago, However IIRC the Creative Soundblaster 128 PCI and Vibra 128 use the same Ensoniq chip as the old SB 64 PCI, you may want to give the XP drivers for those cards a try.

Thanks for the tips.

Strange thing, before I made the OP in this thread, I had tried the Live 5.1 first, then the Audigy 2 ZS after that, and as mentioned drivers wouldn't even begin to install for either. Therefore, no speaker icon in the systray, and no sound. I put the Live 5.1 back in since I wanted to use it instead of the Audigy (saving it for another PC) to try the KX driver, as suggested by metalmania. However, for some reason after installing the Live 5.1 (before even trying the KX driver), I know have a speaker icon, sound, and can now even record (the original problem with the Ensoniq AudioPCI 1370) in Windows Sound Recorder and Audacity. What in the world is allowing me to do this and why didn't it the first time? This system has never had a Sound Blaster/drivers installed in the past.

Anyone know what happened? Did it actually install a bit of the drivers, even though it gave the 'no sound blaster found' message?

Also, maybe I should ask in another thread, but I noticed my PC running slower, and didn't know whether it was after installing Firefox 3.5, or after the Sound Blaster mysteriously started working. But I noticed a file running called devldr32.exe. This page is a bit confusing since it says it's from Creative, but also seems to say it's a virus. What's up with that?

Still don't know how that even got installed.
