can't install RADEON AIW with winME or win2k- wtf?

Been running my radeon all in wonder under win98 for a little while, and I really hate win98 for many reasons. Thought I'd upgrade to winME/win2k dual boot. Tried installing both seperately just to see if it would work. Never got either one fully installed-- once I get windows installed and it does the final reboot, it locks up before getting to the desktop or immediately after getting to the desktop.

I have an abit ka7 mobo, latest biod, latest via drivers. This is driving me NUTS!!! anyone have any tips? I've tried farting around in the bios to see if that is the culprit, but it's not. HELP

if you have another video card (i.e. a pci for 2nd monitor) take it out first. I had to do that with my sblive in win2k and my ati dvd software (it didnt really work either anyways). Also use the retail drivers and not the special ones. The special ones suck ass for kt133.

Thanks for the reply, but I had no other video card, no SB live, and I was using the drivers from the CD, which were ms approved/certified. Actually, it wouldn't even let me boot into windows to get to the point of installing. I read something about the kx133 chipset and how some EARLY mobos have problems with ATI. COuld be the problem, as I was a fairly early adopter... but it works fine with win98SE. grrr.

Hey, Win98's awesome! =) Well, I like it better than WinME anyway. I guess you should go back to Win98? Or you can put in a video card, install your OS's, and then put the Radeon in, since that's probably you did with Win98 (meaning you didn't have the Radeon yet?).

acutally the retail driver sucked when I installed it on WinMe. The card worked fine, in fact better than win98 and winme when I installed it with 3100 driver in win2k.

If you're gonna run WinMe, I suggest you try the 7068, or the new 7072 driver. I heard mixed things about which one is better, but 7068 works great for me.
Btw, I'm running a Kt7-133
