can't install programs/drivers using InstallShield

when i install something, right after it says "it will now install the program", it freezes with little status in the status bar of the download. since it freezes, i go into task manager, and see there are 2 setups running at the same time.

InstallShield.com has searchable support, there are sometimes problems with having different versions of the InstallShield engine on the same machine.

If this is a web-based install ("download"?) then IS is probably downloading a bunch of large CAB files and you're going to have to wait until they are done before the install continues.

Yea...have you tried rebooting as well? If that doesnt fix it, DL Ccleaner and run the reg cleaner AND the regular crap cleaner and see if that helps.

this isnt a web-based install, i want to install the FEAR demo and new Realtek drivers, but the status bar freezes.

so the bottom line is that i should try just wating... because of the CAB files? should i delete CAB files? there is an option for that in driver cleaner. or if that doesnt work, i will just do a system recovery (not a full re-format) and see if that helps. is that a good idea?

The InstallShield website should have some things to try.

The part about CABs only was because you seemed to be describing a web-based install, that the install itself was downloading things from the web when you ran it.
