I dont know what the problem is...
after formating and installing XP, it restarts to finish off the setup but after rebooting, it wont load the OS
it says "error loading OS"
it detects HD,
HD is setup correctly
I dont know what's happening.
it loaded XP the first time I installed it
turned it off, and on again and it wont load it any more
I tried reinstalling many times but it keeps saying error loading operating system
any idea?

This may happen if you have a single FAT-32 partition above 32 Gigabytes. Try doing a low-level hard-disk format. Get one of those ancient MS-DOS boot disks for win-98 and type fdisk /mbr
You also may want to run a diagnostic test to check the stability of your hard disk.
Generally if there is an error in installing win-xp you should get an error saying 'cannot find hal32.dll'

but if you have a FAT 32 partition greater than 32GB, the BIOS can have trouble detecting the hard drive........try a low level format.

I'll throw this out there just in case.

I'm using the new Corsair 3200XLPro (2225) with an FX53 and had errors on my OS install. I had to relax my timings to 2336. What kind of memory are you using?

Maybe your HD is bad. Run DFT on it and it will tell you. If you need to know the different codes I believe there's a manual link on this page, and a download. If you have any problems with the program or wonder what a code means just ask and I'll look it up.

BTW run an advanced test if you want to cover every possibility.
Here's the link

DFT doesn't check for bad sectors, it checks for S.M.A.R.T. errors and such. In other words, more major stuff that can't be looked over like bad sectors. Read the manual, you'll see.
