cant install Nvidia control panel/drivers

Hello All, I am at my wits end, long story short! my desktop primary HDD crashed last week so I bought another one from Newegg.

My Nvidia GTX 470 is about 2 months old and had always worked great. So yesterday I installed the new 2TB sata hdd and proceeded to do the reinstall thing but after many, many, many tries I just cant get past the "cant finish install due to Nvidia control panel not installing"

or something very similar. I have not DLd a driver removal tool but I will. However, I already had tried multiple fresh WinXP installs and still cant get the drivers to install.

I have tried about 4 different sets of drivers from Nvidias website and I still cant complete one successful install.

So I guess I am hoping that someone here has experienced this pain in the a$$ problem and could make a suggestion for me...thanks folks
 
Win XP and you dont even have SP2 installed? 😵 also I sure hope the rest of your pc isn't as old as that pre SP2 XP disc.
 
Hallelujah!!! that was it.............................(sigh) good grief, that was the most horrific upgrade for me EVER!
