Can't install NVIDIA 77.72 Drivers

Uninstalled drivers for GEForce2 GTS based card from My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/etc/etc.

Rebooted and got the very generic NVIDIA drivers supplied to Microsoft. (Desktop looked fine with these 2001 drivers.)
Attempted to install 77.72 driver and got this message in dialog box:

'The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.'

Okay Mr. NVIDIA! Re-installed 71.89 drivers and all went well.

Then attempted to install 77.72 over these (did not remove drivers) and got the same message.

And you know this is in 77.72 readme.txt file:

Adapters supported
------------------
...
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 200
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 400
NVIDIA Quadro2 MXR
NVIDIA Quadro2 EX
NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS
NVIDIA GeForce2 Pro
NVIDIA GeForce2 Ti
NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra
NVIDIA GeForce2 Integrated GPU
NVIDIA Quadro2 Pro
...

No big deal but just wondering. Always been able to upgrade and 77.72 installed fine on my other computer that has a 5700 based video card.

Thanks for your attention.

I've got the same situation..
got that error when trying to install the 77.72s

my setup
nvidia GeForce2 GTS Pro 64MB card sitting in an ASUS A7V333
the company that made this card isn't very into putting their name anywhere on the card, original cd, or product manual. Actually a friends system that I'm re-doing for him.

So maybe this company did something funky with nvidia's reference design?

But if the 71.89s work.. then........

Nvidia? care to comment?
Bimir.. thanks for posting. saved me some research time to find out that this is a problem others are having as well. I'll load up those 71.89s
