Here is what I did once I formatted the HD I had no way of booting so use a Win98 startup disk and got to the dos prompt and put in the NT cd and typed Setup and said "Bad command" What do I do now? Checked the partition with fdisk and it sayd FAT16 file system is this correct I want a NTFS partition but don't know how to do that either? Please help

just boot right to the cd, that will be the easiest way. you can modify partitions/format through the install gui, no need for fdisk

NT is installed with the command winnt, not setup.

You can either boot directly from the CDROM to start the setup, or you can start setup (without NT bootdisks as long as you have a good DOS one with SMARTDRV loaded) using the command winnt /b.

Don't forget that you need to be in the i386 directory, unless of course, your machine is an Alpha which does not seem possible since you used a win98 boot floppy.
