Can't install Directx 7.0 over 7.0a

hi

is there any way to uninstall directx 7.0a, it doesn't show up in the add/remoce programs in win98!
i want to install directx7.0 over it. 7.0a for some reason wont run unreal tourney and i have been told the problem is 7.0a

Should be built into 98SE, & I may have it on a ZIP disk somewhere around here. Give me a second to look...

[EDIT]Yeah, I've got it. How do you want me to get it to you? I can burn it to a CD & mail it to you, or I can upload it to my ISP & let you dl it from there. That will take a while, though, since I'm on 56K dial up.[/EDIT]

Start regedit, go into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then into Software, then Microsoft and the DirectX. There, change the version key to some prior key. Mine is 4.07.01.3000 and by changing the 07 to, say, 05 this should be able to fool the DirectX installation program... i hope!
