Just built a new server for WHS2011, installed it and now I can't get the connect software to install on my client system. I unintalled the old WHS connect software and when I get to about 95% complete the progress bar goes in reverse and I get a message that says Error, unable to intall Connect Software. I even unistall Net Framework 4. and let the connect software reinstall it and still no go. So I'm stuck with Software I can't use and a Computer that I don't have any use for

I'm at my wit's end, the first WHS was simple and bullit proof. ANy help would be appreciated

very odd! is this on a new machine?

Was there any error msg that you could look up?

Also have you tried contacting WHS support or looking on their forums?

That forum, Wegotserved and a couple of other forums and it seems that I'm not the only one with this problem. Made sure my server and client had different IP addies, turned off my AV and Firewall even follwed a suggestion of turning on Media Center in the Client system and still no love, same issue. It's absolutely maddening and it seems MS hasn't a damn clue what's going on.

I thought this was supposed to be better and easier than WHS V1. Apperantly not.

BTW this as not a new Machine (Client)

If it's like the original WHS, there's a separate log that can be accessed via Event Viewer. Have you checked that log on either machine?

I remember having huge issue with a WHS server client connection. It ended up being the client PC was having trouble getting a IP address for the server from the servername....ie,DNS, so I put the IP addy in the host file and bam, all good!

You could try browsing to the client install folder on the server to ran the connection software from there!

Well I couldn't figure it out so I backed up all my important data on another drive and reinstalled Win7 Pro and it worked without a hiccup.
