I have an ATI 9500pro and and planar ML-PX171M-SI 17-inch Multimedia LCD Monitor and I cannot set the refresh rate above 60hz. i dont know why. i'm using the DVI output not the analog. I have the latest drivers from ATI.

As Mr Orion says....albeit briefly ;)

LCD monitors don't refresh the same way as CRT's do...the refresh rate is almost meaningly....it is the access time that is important....this will be 30ms for the cheaper ones, 25-20ms for the mainstream and around 16ms for hardcore gaming monitors.

It defines how often the image is re-painted on the screen, each pixel changes colour and light levels depending on what is being displayed. Of course because it's done this way rather than beaming the image onto a tube...you can get "dead pixels" which mean they don't work properly, generally expect 1 or 2 of these with most TFT's.

Access time or reaction time Corm? And there are very few LCD's out there that still ghost.

ahhh... i'm pretty sure my access times are around 16ms. I just assumed my refresh rates would be higher. Thanks everyone. I am enlightened.
