Hey, guys. A generic question:

What do you think might be the main reason for not being able to successfully set FSB to 200MHz? By successfully I mean seeing the Windows boot screen.

Hardware specs:

- AMD Athlon XP 2500+
- Soltek SL-75FRN-2L
- Samsung PC3200 512MB (factory rating: 3-4-4, runs great at 2.5-3-3-7 with FSB166(333))

Things get to normal around FSB190 and lower.

I have not messed with nforce2 boards in a while but my first guess would be motherboard does not like running at those speeds.

A couple of questions what are your voltages and what power supply you running.

Thanks for your replies.

Ronnie: My PSU is Enermax 450W. I let my motherboard manage the voltages, so they all should be at their default values... or maybe the mobo thinks they are? Good idea, I should check that too.

AWhackWhiteBoy: I have just one stick of memory.

Also, I tried running 200MHz with memory timings at 3-4-4-9... Didn't help.

bump your cpu voltage up, most of the time barton's won't hit 200fsb on stock voltage, hell mine won't hit 200fsb anyway (I have an early barton and can only get 168x12.5=2.1Ghz)

Hey, guys. I just tried gradually increasing vcore from 1.65 up to 1.75. With 1.75 it went as far as the welcome screen (XP), but that's it.
What is the safest/most reasonable amount of voltage that I can add?

Gamingphreek: the version of BIOS I use doesn't seem to have any PCI locking abilities (AGP is set to 66). I guess updating BIOS would be a good shot, too.

Thanks again.

more than 1.7 will produce terrific heat under load.
If your nf2 chipset is not an ultra then you may be unable to do 400 MHz fsb.
also check ram and chipset voltages and ensure they are all the Way up, once again beware the evil heat monster.
good luck sir
