Can't hear voice chat in MW2

I was able to hear voice chat when I first played the game but now I can't. I haven't changed any settings that I am aware of to make it stop working. My friend and I use Skype and I can hear him fine, its just with STEAM and/or MW2.

I looked at the MW2 and STEAM settings and it all looks fine to me.
Any ideas?
 
hmm...ended up reinstalling the game yesterday because I couldn't connect to IWNET. ended up being something with my router and/or modem apparently.

anyway, i still can't hear voice chat even after the reinstall. this is weird.
 
ok, this is weird. i played without my friend today without skype and I can hear the other people. playing again with my friend and using skype, i can't hear them. seems like skype is taking over the voice chat and preventing MW2s voice chat from working. is thta possible?
