Can't hear midi files on my computer...?

For some reason I cannot hear .mid files on my computer, they open up with windows media player but just silence! They do work on my phone however, but it takes forever to transfer and I would like to weed out the sucky ones.

Reinstall the drivers for the sound card/WMP. Tried in any other programs?

I'm betting you're like me and have the midi volume turned off in control panel. Line in too.

thank you thank you thank you, duh, that was it! i haven't messed with midi's for so long that i didn't realize it was a seperate volume!
