I have a 1.6a oced @ 155 FSB. I have a 512 ddr corsair 2700 currently in there and want to add a same specced mushkin piece. But it crashes minutes into any game I play, so what's the deal? Mem ratio is 1:1, ratio is 3337

the p4b533 doesnt like 2 sticks of ram.

effectively ~ 2 sticks of pc2700 will not run its rated specs in that board
2x pc2700 will top out at about 300ddr, +/-.
2x pc3000 will top out at about 333ddr, etc.

that would be fine with me but apparently it crashes my system instead of just lowering the spec. My mem ratio is 1:1 at 155 so shouldn't it still perform ok? I don't mind a little slower ram so long as it works

the board is only rated for 266ddr ~ and they mean it ;)

if you only use 1 stick it can go upto 454ddr :Q

better ram will get you farther ~ but nothing will run its rated specs w/ 2 sticks past 300ddr.

it runs for a while and crashes a few minutes into any 3d game. If I lowered my clock to 150 would it work alright?

Sorry thugs but I have run 2X pc2700 512megs sticks fine all the way up to 180mhz using the trick to enable 3:4.

I have 1 samsung pc2700 & 1 crucial pc2700 & they work just fine at their rated speed and beyond, but you must place them in the 2 slots near the cpu because the 3rd slot doesnt like double sided ram.

I also have run it at 166mhz with 1:1 ratio with no problems at all,so you can use 2 sticks just fine as long as you use the 2 slots near the cpu.

i couldnt run 2 sticks past 333ddr in either ratio....
some ppl can run higher ~ some cant even run that high.

everyone is going to get different results, the only way find out is to test.

as far as the memtest it failed twice while tyring it, just stuck at less than 33%

Yes it states in the manual you must use slot 1 & 2 for double sided ram.

I've been running two 512MB sticks of XMS3200 Corsair at DDR400 on my P4B533E for the last 9-10 months 100% stable. Timings have to be CL2.5-3-3-3-7, Vdimm is 2.7V. With just one 512MB stick I can get DDR426 with the same timings and Vdimm.

Funny thing...I just messed with this today. I built a PC for a buddy awhile ago using a P4B533. He just added a 2nd stick of Corsair 512 3200C2. He was running 158 FSB, 3:4, DDR421, 2.5,3,2,7 2.6 Vdimm. With the 2nd stick, it locked when launching a game. Tried 2.5,3,3,7 2.7 Vdimm, no go. Had to back it down to 1:1 and now its fine.

He'll be getting my Albatron 845PE once I get a my IC7 going.

Nothing special,insert ram into slot1 & 2 and that's it.

1 is crucial pc2700 and the other is a generic pc2700 with samsung chips, worked fine from the start. going on 9 months here too.
