Can't grow a mustache, is there any hope in me having a good looking beard?

It seems that my family genes don't include the gene for mustache growth. After a month of not shaving, I have a nice thick beard but a mustache that looks like I just hit puberty. My dad and his father are both the same way, so I don't think my age is a factor here.

Is there a good way for me to shape my facial so that it looks good?

My dad is 56 and grows an identical looking beard to mine.

i dont know but people say the more you shave the more it will grow faster.

Or...you are just not manly enough.

I wish I had your problem. I shave on Sunday and by Wednesday I have a bear with half an inch hairs all around my face.

People actually believe that nonsense?

I tend to believe the folk myth that hair grows faster and thicker with shaving frequency is because one starts having to shave during puberty. At first there isn't that much volume or thickness, but as one ages, the hair becomes thicker and grows faster; so the shaving frequency, growth rate, and thickness are all correlated; but the causation is viewed backwards.

Because I hate having to deal with my facial hair. Thus I like to put off shaving/trimming as much as possible. Ideally, I'd go for the mountain man look. But after about a month of growth, I get a really creepy mustache and have to trim or shave.

Basically I'm trying to be as lazy as possible.

if your dad and grandfather are the same way you should likely plan on that.

I cannot imagine what would happen if I let my facial hair go wild for a month. It's bad enough after a few days.

Oh well, enjoy the trash 'stache. ;)

I take a beard trimmer, no guard, to my face about every 3 weeks. I just wish there some way to keep the facial hair while managing the pedo mustache.

I have pretty much no mustache either (I'm 21). I take a trimmer to my beard every few days and shave my neck from the jawline down, and it looks pretty respectable IMO. No, I won't post pics.
