I purchased and downloaded the game directly from EA (using EA download manager), but I can't connect in-game at all. I've verified the same email/password works at profile.ea.com.

When in the game, I can't log in and I can't create a new account... :(

Any ideas?

Don't have a software firewall (uninstalled Comodo coz it was buggy) and I even disabled Vista's built in one, but same error messages.

Thanks for the chat link, I'll give it a try...

You were able to log in to the EA chat site, but with the same info you can't log in to BFBC2?

What messages do you see at exactly what step?

what about your router on your network? Same issue I had opened up the ports and it was fine after.

I haven't touched the hardware router. I'll google on the port numbers that need to be opened... hopefully this is the fix.

Yes, I can log in to EA chat, but not in BC2. The error message in game is "Unable to Login. Please Try Again."

Are these the ports I need to have opened on my router? http://chattim.wordpress.com/2010/03/05/battlefield-bad-company-2-router-ports-to-open/

Opened the ports, but still getting the error message...

I have the same ports open, but did both TCP and UDP for all except 80

18390 - TCP and UDP
18395 - TCP and UDP
13505 - TCP and UDP
80 - TCP

Do you have a software firewall program running that might be blocking it?

Not that I'm aware of, as I mentioned I had Comodo but uninstalled it, and I also tried disabling the Vista Firewall completely and that had no effect. I can't log in, and I can't create a new account either.

I noticed there is a "Redeem Code" menu item under Multiplayer but I can't get to that either, because I have to log in first.

I bypassed my router and plugged my computer directly into the modem, and it still doesn't work.

Could there be something wrong with the copy I downloaded from EADM?

Got a different response from EA chat support this time...

Harris: This is server related issue
Harris: Will be solved within days

I haven't been able to log in for a full week. WTF?:thumbsdown:

edit: woah, finally got a 'new' error message: Failed to connect to EA Online.

I see 523648. No error messages. Is this for BC2 updates? I've been able to update/patch to the latest version (I think) automatically...

I'm sorry you're having trouble. I purchased through EADM and was able to get up and running (Win7 64)

I still cannot go online with BC2. What gives? I feel like I've exhausted all options. Any one have any new suggestions?
