I have an AsRock x570 Taichi Razer mobo. I have a hot swap bay on the front of my computer with all those connectors hooked up to the mobo. It will not hot swap. If I change a drive, I have to reboot before it shows up. Never had this problem with my last computer. It had an Asus mobo.

I have dug through the bios and I can't find a setting to enable or disable hot swap.

How do I get this to work?

Thanks,
Kirk

I don't have that specific ASRock board but on my ASRock B550M-ITX board there's settings for SATA hot plug under Advanced -> Storage Configuration. Presumably you already looked there but never hurts to try a second look to be sure.

If I go into Advanced -> storage configuration, all of the drives are set to AUTO

What setting is "Auto"? Seems to be different than my board's BIOS.
If I remember right, you can click on Auto and there are three choices. Something like On, Off, Auto. I assume that if you know the port isn't being used, you would set it Off, and if it was an installed drive, or boot drive, you would have it always on.

Generally there's a "SATA hot swap" toggle somewhere in the bios that will allow this functionality. It won't be a setting on individual SATA ports, it will be a global setting for all of them.

nvme hot swappability is motherboard dependent. sata hot swap refers to the actual sata ports, not the bandwidth used by any m2 slot that utilises the sata port channels.
