Can't get wireless card to work under Windows server 2008 under bootcamp

I have the 'newest' black macbook, purchased Aug 2008. 2.4 Ghz, AirPort Extreme card, don't think there's anything else to know?

As numerous people have, I picked up Server 2008 for free as a student so I can run some fun engineering programs.. I'd like to just boot it through Boot Camp, its already installed and everything went smooth. But it won't recognize my airport card.. it keeps saying 'unknown device' trying to install the driver and points to the broadcom card not working. I tried installing and repairing again from the OS X disk, to no avail. Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 is the driver that is installed and working for Mac OS X. I tried searching on google and these forums, but it doesn't seem as if anyone else has run into this problem. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Is Server 2008 a 64bit OS? I recently helped a friend install Vista 64 onto his MacBook Pro, and his wireless does not work either.

Nah, I downloaded the 32 bit version. The OS boots fine and everything else works.. I don't think that a 64 bit version would even boot on a 32 bit?

I thought that was only the MacBook Pros in the most recent generation, but my mistake. Thanks.

EDIT: So, apparently you have to go to 'Server Mananger' (starts automatically), select 'Add Features', enable 'Wireless LAN service' then restart and all works.. wow can't believe it took me this long to find it. Pretty obvious, I guess.. when microsoft said that Server 2008 was limited by default, they weren't kidding. Hope this ends up helping someone else.. nice to have Windows available for running these programs, that's for sure.

Well, in all fairness, how many machines with a need for a server OS are using wireless? Probably very few 🙂
