I have tried to setup a lan between these two computers and haven't gotten very far. Both machines have latest updates. File and printer sharing is enabled on both machines, they are on the same subnet, same ip range, and same workgroup named HOME. The windows xp 32 bit machine can see the x64 machines files fine, but the x64 machine can't see the 32bit machine at all. When clicking the view workgroup computers icon on the x64 machine it hangs until I stop the process. The 64 machine can ping the 32 machine and the 32 machine can ping the 64 machine, so I know they can see each other. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

BTW: Both machines have internet access and the wan is working fine. TIA

So which is it?

Perhaps you have a firewall running on one of the machines.

The 64 bit machine can't see the 32 bit machine under view workgroup computers. Both computers have the windows firewall on, but file ad print sharing is an exception on both computers.
