Can't get windows to load on 2500+

Hi, Just got an Asus a7n8x-x and a xp2500+. It loads up the bios and everything fine and recognizes the hard drives, and ram, and cpu and what not. Then that thing comes up saying like windows didn't load successfully and whta I wanted to do. So I tried like all the options, safe mode, normal,and what not. The screen would go black for a couple seconds, then a blue screen with text on it would pop up really quick and dissapear, and then my computer restarts. It flashes off to quick for me to read the text. Im on windows xp. I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

all your hardware is fine. if you're getting to the point of logging onto windows, i can think of two things:

1. you should disable/enable ACPI in bios. if you had it on before, you can't boot with it off. and vice versa.
2. you didn't do a fresh OS install, and you just replaced the mobo and cpu.

i'm expecting you to say #2. in which case just reload the damn thing.
make a ghost backup after you load all the windows updates, drivers, etc.

Ok, So how do I reinstall the OS if I can't get windows to run? I'm a noob to Win XP.

see if the capacitors on your mobo are blown.

One thing you could try is to boot windows with step-by-step confirmation
and find out which driver fails. Than next time you boot do the same thing
but skip that one.

I used to do this on Win98 all the time, I guess it will work in XP :\

quite easy actually.
1. go into bios and look for the boot devices. there will be 1st/2nd/3rd.
2. set the first boot device to be cd-rom
3. set the second boot device to be HDD-0 (zero = 1st drive)
4. put winxp disc in cd-rom
5. save bios and exit. press reset button

your xp install will start from the cd-rom. no need to go into windows.

WARNING!!! a fresh OS install will delete all information on that drive, so make sure you have everything you need off of it. if you don't, put in your old mobo and cpu back in. boot into windows, and burn a disc or something with all your data on it.

a fresh OS install will completely erase all files on the drive.
