i'm kind'a new to pc's and so i'm working with this old pc that was given to me to sharpen my skills. it's a 200mmx made in '97 with award bios. i put in a fresh cmos battery and all settings are default except for pnp os enabled, pwr mgt off, vga snoop disabled. i have only vid card installed. irq3 and 4 is set to legacy pnp/isa.

i'm trying to get the os to recognize the mouse. i tried connecting it to the ps2 port, and also tried both usb ports but they did'nt work. my keyboard uses "at" type connector. (the only mention of usb in the bios is "usb support for keyboard- enabled".

so, i'm stuck because i don't know what else to try. help please. thanks, binks.

If you're gonna start working on pc's, why don't you pick up something little more recent, comparibly? If you look around you should be able to find an old machine 4-5 yrs old. Old enough to be cheap but recent enough to have realistic things to work on. I say this because first it's just something little, then something else then...........
