Can't get WEP working on IBM T40 Centrino (Intel 802.11b card).

I've tried both 64-bit and 128-bit keys and both open and shared authentication in all combinations possible.

I am using IBM Access Connections instead of letting Windows manage my connection as I had problems with that in the past.

Throw anything at me and I'll try it. I'd prefer to get it working with the Netgear router.

Dumb question, but have you made sure that you're using the same Index Key for WEP? Usually it's you get a few choices to choose from, but I'm not familiar with IBM's program.

I'm assuming that you can connect to it when you disable WEP, correct? If so, use your laptop to log into the router, generate your WEP key (make sure to highlight all of it - it DOES run off the edge of the screen on the v.3 models), copy it, and try to paste it into your key index on your laptop itself. If you can't do that, try to make sure that you enter both phrases correctly (case and spacing IS important in this case).

Good luck!

These are settings for your lappy:

1. do not use shared authentication
2. do as jester said, or just print your web key out and go to the other PC and enter it using windows networking(it is not that bad :D)
3. Disable 802.3x authentication...I think it is in advanced or something.
4.If you will beusing DHCP, make sure that there is no IP and DNS entered in Networkconnection x>properties>TCP/IP porperties>

uncheck "this key is provided to me automatically. ALl that should be checked is "WEP encryption"

Settigns for your router:

1. generate a key, set it as active, and print it.
2. make sure DHCP is enabled if you want automatic addressing.
