Hey guys! I have an old system with the following specs that I planned on putting in another room with server software for testing and remoting into it.

Tyan S1854 Mobo
P3 850
256MB RAM
80GB HD
DFE-530TX+ NIC

I want to get wake-on-LAN working on this system and can't seem to do it. I have WOL enabled in the BIOS, the NIC card I just bought supports it, and I have it enabled in the 2000 server OS in device properties. The WOL cable is connected as well. However, I can't get it to work. I tried using the AMD magic packet utility and others from various other machines on the LAN in the same switch and it will not boot. The reverse does work though. I can WOL another test machine from this broken machine. Am I missing something here? The NIC lights stay on when the system is powered off so it looks like it is in the correct state.

Thanks,
Al

Thanks for the link Trashman but I still cannot get it to work. When I plug my laptop into the switch and issue the wol command to another HP system with a built-in NIC, it boots up fine. This one, however, doesn't want to boot up. I will probably try calling Tyan some day since D-Link wasn't able to provide any help.
