Can't get TV tuner to work in Vista Home Premium (64-bit)

Drivers installed just fine, as far as I can tell; Windows Media Center is picking *something* up when it scans the tuner, but all I see is a black screen. I'm stumped.

EDIT: I uninstalled the drivers that I downloaded from Hauppauge, rebooted the computer, and let Vista do it's own thing. It found drivers via Windows Update, and now the card kinda works, but not completely - I've got a picture, but I'm only seeing a frame every second or two. Looks like some wierd slide show 😛

Try reinstalling your main video graphics card drivers, or at least verify that "overlay" mode is enabled / supported / working.
Also if there's any options relating to the capture format presented to the display screen, e.g. RGB888, YUV424 or
whatever, play with those; maybe the tuner is generating something that the rest of the system doesn't like much.

Actually it occurs to me that maybe the main problem is just bad reception; DTV can be very intermittent and only rarely / sporadically lock on to (and display) a signal if the reception isn't great. Try moving the antenna and rescanning for
channel signal strength et. al.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've got the card hooked up to standard Cable - reception shouldn't be a problem. Also, the card was working fine under XP Pro just 2 days ago.

I've tried knocking down the video settings on Vista - stopped aero and, in fact, went back to Windows classic just to see what would happen. Didn't help a bit, unfortunately.

How much RAM do you have? Hauppage has been known to have issues with 4GB of RAM, you need these drivers to fix the problem. You can find more details on this page under the Beta tab.

Using 6GB total, running Vista Home Premium 64-bit - I've seen mention in a few places that Hauppauge cards don't cooperate when > 4GB is installed, but I've also seen that a) some people have gotten their cards to work, and b) those that had problems usually didn't get anything at all...I at least have a picture and some sound, even if it is only a frame a second or so.

Not yet. Didn't even know about them until I read that post this morning before work.
