Can't get TV OUT to work on my Hollywood DVD Decoder...

Hello,

I am using the Hollywood Plus DVD Decoder and whenever I want to watch a DVD movie I have to do in with my 17 in Monitor I can't get it to work on my TV. I plugged the S-Video Adapter into the back of the card and the RCA cable into my VCR. And then changed to AV/Input on the VCR Tuner. No picture... What's wrong?

I am not using the Software that came with the DVD Decoder. I am using WINDVD 2000. I have treid the software that came with it and still it doesn't work.

You need to go STRAIGHT to the TV... not the VCR.

VCR will get you MacroVision protection crap and bad picture anyway. Get it hooked to the TV directly, then ask again.

Don't have RCA inputs on my TV. It has to work somehow becasue other people are doing it like that too. I used to have a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP and used its TV out Feature to do that but sold it and don't have that luxury anymore.

Any other productive answers for my problem?

Always use the RCA jacks to record from if your VCR has Macrovision crap. The RCA jacks use post-translated signal, free of the protection frequencies.

I don't have RCA jacks on my TV. I did try to use the TV out RCA jacks on the Hollywood Plus and it still doesn't work.

Did you set output to TV? You can't watch on both the monitor and the TV, so if you still see a picture on your monitor you need to select TV output.

The RCA jack on the card is a digital sound output, not video! LOL 🙂

Hello,

yeah I selected to the TV output it still doesn't work right.

SOrry about the Digital out connector though it was RCA outpout 🙂

You've gotta use the Hollywood Plus software. WinDVD 2000 is a software decoder and doesn't use the card.

People, if he's trying to use the TV-out from his Hollywood+ he cannot use a software decoder. He must use software that uses the Hollywood+. Right now, I know of 2. One is the software that ships with the card. Another is an independent project by some dude...can't remember the name but I've never tried it. So don't bother telling him to use software decoders because it won't work.

That being said, try this Krueger:

1) Start > REALmagic Hollywood Plus > REALmagic Configuration

2) Click Advanced > Video Output > Output To > check "composite Svideo".

Then from within the software, you can toggle between the monitor and TV-out by hitting the TV button in the bottom left-hand corner. The H+ can only output to the monitor or to the TV - it cannot do both at once.

Hope this helps.

ok I got the software installed... it allways wants to play the movie in full screen is there anyway I can just view it in the windows untill I click the TV button?

Try "right" clicking on the movie... then look throught menu.. you should be able to tell it to not play "always on top".... etc..
