Can't get the Wii's WiFi to work

My DS works just fine with my Linksys WRT54G. My Wii on the other hand, does not. I tried with WPA-PSK, WEP, and no security at all. I power cycled my router twice. I put the MTU and everything in manually on the Wii. I tried with DHCP/auto DNS and manually entered for both. NOTHING WORKS! Anyone else having stupid problems with their Wii?

I have a WRT54G running DD-WRT firmware and WAP security. Although I had no problems hooking it up, I can tell you that you're not missing out on much. Unless you want to buy some old games, there's really nothing else available.

try port forwarding on the ports the wii uses. give the wii a dedicated IP on your lan and have the ports forwarded to that IP.

Any clue what ports it uses?

I had the same issue until I put in the IP, gateway, and DNS servers manually. But you said you tried that so I'm not sure the issue could be. Anyway, why the hell couldn't they have just put an ethernet port back there? I know a wired connection can be used via one of the USB ports on the back, but now I have to buy and adapter for that. I have a switch with free ports in my entertainment center and would rather just use wired.

I think I might've left the MTU blank when I did that though. Tomorrow I'm going to go back and enter it ALL manually from scratch (erase the existing settings).

Once I entered in the wep key and added the MAC address to my router, it was good to go.

Just put the Wii IP on your DMZ then everything will be open

Mine doesn't work either. It worked right away, then i downloaded the update, now it doesn't work. It wont pull an IP from my WRT54G Router. When i manually assign an IP, DNS, Gateway it still does not work. I'v tried putting it in the DMZ and still nothing.

Well, I didn't have any trouble setting up mine, but like DeviousTrap said, there is not much you are missing out on. I think we have some time before it is all up and running. By the way, anyone interested in Red Steel, I didn't care for it, check out my FS/FT thread if so...I would really like to trade it for something, but will sell it too.

Also try Nintendo customer service, they might be able to help you with setup.

Nope, mine was up and running in no time...that said, I won't be playing it much until later this week :(
