can't get tekram scsi to work with pc chip m747 mainboard

i am trying to install a tekram scsi adapter dc-395u
in a pc chips m747 mainboard
the system hangs durning the boot process
after detecting the one and only ide device
on the system,a 6gb hdd
the system has a network card but i disabled it
along with ide controller,fdd controller,lpt
sound card
still it hangs
HELP!!!!!
