Cant get sound in anything but winamp

For some odd reason suddenly I cant get sound in Q3 or AIM. These are the only programs i have tried so far. But when I run WinAmp to play my mp3s, The sound works fine. I tried running q3 with AIM in the backround and suprisngly when q3 was running I had no q3 sound but i could hear the AIM sounds. when i quit q3 the AIM sounds were once again not working. All the windows sounds work fine. Anyone know why this is happening?

What version of WinAmp are you runing? Older ones used to dominate your sound card and prevent other sounds from playing, but I think the newer versions have fixed that problem.

Which Windows do you have?
What sound card do you have?
Did you verify the settings in "Sound Properties"?
Did you verify that everything is working in the "Device Manager"?
Could it be a DirectX sound problem?
When you quite Q3 with AIM running in bkgnd, can you restart Q3 and here AIM sounds again?

Which Windows do you have? Win 98 SE
What sound card do you have? Onboard (MSI K7T Pro)
Did you verify the settings in "Sound Properties"? Not sure what this is...
Did you verify that everything is working in the "Device Manager"? Yes, there were no conflicts and it said that the device was working properly.
Could it be a DirectX sound problem? I highly doubt it. This is a problem that just popped up out of no where. It was functioning fine untill about a week ago.
When you quite Q3 with AIM running in bkgnd, can you restart Q3 and here AIM sounds again? Yes
