Can't get SMC7004ABR Cable/DSL Router to work with AIM direct connection

I have a SMC7004ABR Cable/DSL (i have cable) Router and would like to get direct connection, image and file transfers to work. Has anyone achieved this using an SMC router? I'm beginning to with I had a linksys. I've tried using both "special applications" and "virtual server" in the admin tools, forewarding port 4443 (the DC port), and can't get it to work. I must be doing something wrong, if you have any suggestions let me know! Thanks!
